Electric Heavy Trucks Roll Into Norway as Deliveries Surge

Norway is cementing its position as Europe's leader in electric heavy truck adoption per capita. Volvo Trucks, Scania, and Mercedes-Benz are now delivering battery-electric tractor units and construction trucks to Norwegian carriers and contractors at volume.

The Volvo FH Electric and Scania 45R lead the segment, while Mercedes-Benz's eActros 600 is entering service with Norwegian fleets. In the first four months of 2026, 179 electric trucks over 16 tonnes were registered in Norway — a 44% increase year-on-year, according to industry data.

Ranges of 300–400 km per charge cover most regional distribution and construction routes, and the Megawatt Charging System (MCS) now enables 750 kW charging, cutting charge times to under 30 minutes. ENOVA, Norway's energy agency, covers up to 60% of the premium over a comparable diesel truck, making the total cost of ownership competitive over five years.

Charging infrastructure is expanding along major highways, with roughly ten trucks per dedicated heavy-vehicle charging point expected once all ENOVA-supported stations are operational. Several contractors are already deploying electric trucks for mass transport and construction logistics, signalling a shift that is gathering pace across the sector.
