Colmar, France — Liebherr-Components has marked a major milestone in its power generation strategy with a capacity expansion at its Colmar production site, adding approximately 12,000 square metres of industrial space to support growing demand for high-performance engine solutions.
The expansion, celebrated on 2 June together with strategic partner Rehlko (formerly Kohler Energy), is designed to significantly increase production, logistics, and testing capacities for high-power combustion engines used in standby, prime, and continuous power applications.
Data centre demand driving investment
The investment — estimated at around €90 million by industry sources — positions the Colmar site to more than double its production output as it ramps up. The facility is being developed as a scalable industrial platform capable of addressing evolving requirements across data centres, infrastructure, and other mission-critical applications.

A decade-long partnership
The collaboration between Liebherr and Rehlko dates back to 2016 with the launch of the KD Series generator range, for which Liebherr develops and manufactures the co-designed Rehlko G-drive engines. The partnership was further strengthened in May 2025, when the two companies expanded their strategic collaboration to advance next-generation engine technology.
Beyond production, the Colmar project reinforces the site capabilities in engineering, testing, and validation, positioning it as a key hub within Liebherr global power generation strategy. Liebherr remains committed to serving a broad range of partners as an open and flexible engine supplier in the global power generation market.
