Hanwha Aerospace targets Poland's third K9 contract with upgraded K9A2 at MSPO 2026

Hanwha Aerospace is fielding the upgraded K9A2 self-propelled howitzer at MSPO 2026 in Kielce, Poland, together with an integrated 155 mm ammunition package, in a bid to secure Poland's third execution contract (EC3) for the K9 programme.

Hanwha Aerospace and Hanwha Systems announced on 7 September that they will jointly exhibit at the 34th International Defence Industry Exhibition (MSPO 2026), held at Targi Kielce from 8 to 11 September. Around 1,000 defence companies from roughly 40 countries are expected to participate.

At the centre of Hanwha Aerospace's artillery display is the K9A2, the upgraded variant of the K9 self-propelled howitzer, presented as an integrated package with a 155 mm trajectory-correcting fuze and a modular charge system (MCS) designed to improve firing accuracy. The company plans to use the package as the basis for pursuing Poland's third K9 execution contract (EC3). Poland, already the K9's largest export customer, has acquired the howitzer in successive batches under the programme.

The K9A2 is shown in an integrated exhibition hall of 274 square metres that Hanwha Aerospace shares with Hanwha Systems under the theme "Proven Partnership, Strategic Capabilities, Sovereign Defence" (Hall 1, stand A17). Around the artillery package, the companies are presenting Chunmoo multiple rocket launcher variants, manned-unmanned teaming (MUM-T) concepts linking the K9A1 with unmanned ground vehicles, and MRO solutions such as the Health and Usage Monitoring System (HUMS). Hanwha Aerospace Europe says the exhibition will also serve to continue the dialogue with Polish industry on technology transfer and localisation of production.
