LiuGong Launches Proven Battery-Electric Equipment Portfolio in North America

Chinese equipment manufacturer LiuGong has officially launched its battery-electric construction and material handling portfolio across the United States and Canada, bringing a lineup backed by more than 60,000 electric machines deployed worldwide and over 15 years of commercial operating experience.

The initial North American lineup comprises four core models: the 856HE battery-electric wheel loader, the 820TE battery-electric loader, the 924FE battery-electric excavator, and the LRSE4531E fully electric 45-ton reach stacker. Together they represent one of the broadest battery-electric equipment portfolios available from a single OEM in the region.

Proven Platform, Real-World Validation

LiuGong's entry into the North American electric market is not a pilot program. The company reports more than 60,000 battery-electric machines in commercial operation globally, deployed across mining, ports, aggregates, tunneling, municipal operations, warehouses, and construction projects. One electric wheel loader has logged 19,900 operating hours on its original battery pack in a highly corrosive phosphate mining environment, with battery health measured at 86.8% — suggesting usable service life well beyond the warranty period.

"We have already proven ourselves through millions of commercial operating hours around the world," said Andrew Ryan, President of LiuGong North America. "Now we're bringing that experience to North America with machines engineered specifically for this market."

The platform benefits from more than 20 years of battery research and development at LiuGong, with battery packs co-developed with CATL using LFP (lithium iron phosphate) chemistry. The 856HE Max wheel loader, for example, carries a 423 kWh LFP battery and offers 7.2 to 10.2 hours of working time depending on application, with fast charging capability to 240 kW.

Cost Advantages and Warranty

LiuGong claims a 40–50% reduction in operating costs compared with equivalent diesel-powered machines, attributed to lower energy consumption, fewer service requirements, and simplified maintenance. The company also states its electric machines are priced below competing battery-electric models in the market — a meaningful factor for fleet owners evaluating total cost of ownership.

Battery packs and electric motors carry a warranty of five years or 10,000 operating hours, with the complete machine covered for three years or 4,000 hours. The equipment has been adapted to North American charging standards, electrical infrastructure, software requirements, safety certifications, and dealer service practices.

Broader Rollout Ahead

Beyond the initial four models, LiuGong plans to introduce a growing range of battery-powered forklifts, warehouse equipment, and material handlers to the North American market over the next 18 months as part of a broader commercial rollout continuing through 2027.

The launch follows LiuGong's strong presence at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2026 in Las Vegas, where the company showcased 13 machines and highlighted its expanding electric portfolio alongside its established diesel lineup. With electric equipment demand in North America still concentrated on wheel loader product lines according to Ryan, LiuGong is positioning itself for growth as the market for zero-emission heavy equipment matures.

For fleet managers and contractors evaluating the switch to electric, LiuGong offers something few new entrants can: years of real-world operating data, tens of thousands of deployed machines, and a warranty that backs up the numbers.
