Poland Orders Hundreds of Chassis for Waran 4×4 and Heron 6×6 Tactical Vehicles
Polish state-owned defense manufacturer Huta Stalowa Wola (HSW) has ordered several hundred chassis from CSG Group companies to license-produce Waran 4×4 and Heron 6×6 tactical vehicles for the Polish Armed Forces, in contracts worth more than EUR 150 million (USD 174 million) in total.
HSW placed three orders with CSG Group companies, the group announced Aug. 18. The agreements include assembly kits, with deliveries scheduled for completion by the end of 2029.
Two contracts cover 4×4 chassis for the Waran 4×4 multipurpose tactical vehicle in various configurations, including a command vehicle for the Missile and Artillery Forces (WRiA). The third covers 6×6 chassis for the Heron 6×6 armored vehicle, including a command configuration for WRiA units equipped with Homar-A and Homar-K multiple-launch rocket systems.
Under the licensing rights granted, HSW will use the chassis to produce complete vehicles ordered by Poland's Armament Agency under contracts financed through the EU's SAFE program.
The Waran 4×4 and Heron 6×6 are based on CSG Group's Patriot II and Tadeas platforms. Through industrial cooperation and technology transfer from CSG companies, both vehicles are already in series production at HSW. The Polish Armed Forces have so far received several dozen Waran 4×4 vehicles in various configurations, including as platforms carrying components of the Gladius unmanned search-and-strike system.
"The signing of these agreements marks the continuation and expansion of the CSG Group's strategic cooperation with the Polish defence industry," said Wojciech Grzonka, president of the management board of CSG Polska. "This cooperation provides significant support for increasing the defence capabilities of the Land Forces and enables the rapid delivery of top-quality products."
