Roshel Showcases Senator APC in Brazil as Parana State Expands Armored Fleet
Canadian armored vehicle manufacturer Roshel Smart Armored Vehicles is showcasing its Senator APC this week at COP International 2026, the public safety trade fair running Aug. 11-13 at São Paulo Expo in Brazil.
The appearance underscores Roshel's push into the Brazilian and Latin American market. Brazil's Paraná state has selected the Senator APC to reinforce the armored fleets of its military, civil and correctional police forces, with the vehicles earmarked for high-risk operations including crisis management, bank robbery response and attempted prisoner rescues.
Paraná's Civil Police received the first of seven Senator APCs on May 5, assigning it to Tigre, the tactical unit handling anti-kidnapping and other high-complexity cases. The remaining vehicles are destined for the Military Police's special operations battalion, Bope, and the Penal Police's special operations sector, SOE. Each unit cost about 3.1 million reais (roughly $604,000), part of a 338 million reais ($68 million) security investment package covering vehicles, weapons, equipment and vessels.
The Senator APC is Roshel's flagship platform: a modular 4x4 vehicle more than 5 meters long, powered by a V8 engine, carrying up to 10 occupants. Roshel has produced the Senator line since 2018 in APC, MRAP, emergency response and explosive ordnance disposal configurations.
The company operates four manufacturing facilities in Ontario with about 500 employees and a capacity of up to 140 vehicles per month. It recently opened an additional plant in Shelby Township, Michigan, adding a service center for U.S. federal and government clients.
Ukraine remains Roshel's largest operator, with more than 2,000 Senator vehicles delivered since the full-scale invasion began. In Brazil, the Federal District government bought six Senator vehicles in April 2025 — four APCs for its Riot Police Battalion and two MRAP variants for its BOPE special operations unit.
COP International, now in its sixth year, has drawn more than 80 exhibitors from eight countries alongside Brazilian and international security officials.
